In this world, we are often too caught up in the physical. My journey as a tantric yoga instructor has offered me glimpses and experiences beyond that, into a realm where emotional intimacy and energetic vibrations are as real and palpable as the pulsating blood in our veins. I am Elke, a young German woman devoted to the path of Tantra, teaching this art of intimacy and mindfulness, from within the intimate sanctum of my Berlin studio, amidst soft candlelight and the scent of lavender.

Each day, the sunrise greets me with endless possibilities. Before each session, I usually sit in quiet contemplation, allowing my spirit to dance on the wavelengths of my thoughts. I see it first—the energy within me, surrounding me, enveloping the studio, waiting in breathless anticipation for the influx of souls seeking a subliminal connection. Seeing this first puts me in perspective of my role. I am indeed the guide, the anchor that leads and controls this sacred experience, yet I am also the student, submitting to the omnipresent energy continuously teaching me.

As each individual walks through my studio door, I can sense the invisible layers of their inner desires, fears, and vulnerabilities, hidden deep under their physical form. Every shyness, every held-back giggle, the awkward glances – they reveal more than words ever could. I, in my role, control the overall atmosphere, guiding it to be a safe and welcoming environment. Yet, I too submit to the uniqueness of their individual energy, adapting and changing the flow of the session accordingly.

There is something almost hypnotic about seeing my students' faces change through the course of a session. The transformation from anticipation, uncertainty, to a gradual relaxation, and finally the soft glow of vulnerability and satisfaction. I remember this young woman, with gentle hazel eyes full of uncertainty, who stepped into my studio for the first time. My heart felt a strong pull towards her energy. As we moved through the session, focusing on breath, connection, and release, I watched her blossom. She was like a sunflower, turning its face towards the sunlight. It was beautiful, yet I can’t deny it was also overwhelming. I was drawn to her, yet reminded of my role. Her submission to the process was mirrored by my own submission to maintaining the boundaries, the sanctity of my profession.

Our interaction was a dance of energy, an embodiment of control and submission. A dance where for every step forward, there was a step back, for each moment of control, there was an equal moment of release. Every peak of intensity balanced by the soft lull of gentleness. It was passionate, yet serene, like the wealth of the ocean contained within the confines of the earth.

As the session drew to a close, the young woman's eyes were no longer filled with uncertainty but a radiant sense of peace. As the instructor, I felt a wave of fulfillment wash over me. For at the core of what we practice here is connection—the connection with our bodies, with our feelings, with our souls, and most importantly, with each other. Despite being the guide and the controlled force within the studio, I feel a profound sense of gratitude for the surrender, the trust my students place in me. For while I may command the ebb and flow of energy in the studio, I am also at the mercy of it, molded by it.

In the world of Tantra, this intricate dance of control and submission is everything. It is not about dominance or servitude, but rather the ebb and flow of energy, the mutual respect and trust, the divine connection, both within and with each other. This beautiful blend of control and submission, finding balance in each other, remains my most cherished learning and the core tenet of my teachings. To see this realization dawn upon someone’s face, to guide them through this transformative journey, is a privilege I am humbly grateful for.
